Though this food is not the healthiest food in the world, it’s vegetarian and much healthier than regular bacon as it has no cholesterol and less fat.
- 140 gr/5 oz tempeh
- 1 tbsp tamari or soy sauce
- 1tbsp olive oil to marinade and olive oil for the flavor to fry the bacon (better extra virgin)
- 1 tbsp agave syrup,
- A half tsp red hot sauce
- 2 tsp smoke flavor
- A half tsp ground cumin
- Black pepper and salt
First, slice the tempeh as thin as you can but try not to shatter it. Mix the ingredients in a bowl except for the salt, and soak the slices in the mixture for marination for a few min. Heat the olive oil in a pan and fry both sides of the tempeh for 1or 2 min till they have a brownish and crispy look. Take fried tempehs on a paper towel and let them cool. Use salt as you desire and serve it.
